Summer Beauty Routine: Before and After Sun Exposure

Summer brings its share of pleasures with sunny days and refreshing swims. However, the sun, heat, and humidity can also cause damage to your skin and hair. Here's a complete beauty routine to adopt before and after sun exposure to keep your skin and hair perfectly healthy.

Before Sun Exposure

  1. Intense Hydration

– Face: Use a light but effective moisturizing cream during the day, suitable for your skin type. In the evening, a slightly richer texture is preferred. Products containing hyaluronic acid are perfect because they retain moisture without being too heavy. Ad CAELIA's ultra-hydrating smoothing cream is perfect as a day/night treatment for normal to dry skin and as a night cream for combination skin. – Body: Opt for a moisturizing body milk. Formulas enriched with aloe vera and shea butter provide deep and soothing hydration.

  1. Sun Protection, etc.

– Face: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Choose a non-comedogenic formula to avoid breakouts and always perform a double cleanse in the evening, with an effective yet gentle product, otherwise you risk impurities. The ideal are products containing AHAs (fruit acids) which offer a gentle exfoliation perfect for summer for clear and beautiful skin. The 2-in-1 radiant cleansing gel can be used every evening even by sensitive skin (and in the morning too for combination to oily skin) link: https://adcaelia.com/products/gel-nettoyant-eclat-2-en-1

– Body: Use a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Reapply every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.

– Hair: Apply a UV protective spray to your hair to prevent sun damage and discoloration.

  1. Sunglasses and Hat

– Protect your eyes with sunglasses offering 100% UV protection. A wide-brimmed hat is also essential to protect your face and scalp.

  1. Diet and Hydration

Drink plenty of water to maintain optimal hydration. Consume antioxidant-rich foods, such as red fruits and green vegetables, to help your skin fight free radicals generated by the sun.

After Sun Exposure

  1. Refreshing Shower

Take a lukewarm or cool shower to remove salt, sand, and sunscreen residues. Use a mild and moisturizing shower gel to avoid drying out your skin.

  1. Restorative Hydration

– Face: Apply a hydrating serum followed by a soothing cream containing ingredients like aloe vera, panthenol, or allantoin to calm the skin and reduce inflammation. Ad CAELIA's ultra-hydrating smoothing cream is ideal for repairing and soothing the skin with its many hydrating and anti-inflammatory active ingredients.

– Body: Use an after-sun lotion or body milk enriched with restorative and soothing agents. Aloe vera and shea butter are excellent choices for restoring hydration.

  1. Hair Care

– Wash your hair with a mild and moisturizing shampoo to remove salt and chlorine residues. Apply a nourishing conditioner and leave it on for a few minutes for deep hydration. Avoid using shampoo daily; simply rinse your hair after swimming to avoid weakening it.

– Once a week (or twice), use a hydrating hair mask to repair damage and restore shine to your hair.

  1. Repair and Soothe

– Face Mask: Use a soothing and hydrating mask several times a week. Masks with cucumber, green tea, chamomile, or hyaluronic acid are excellent for calming the skin after a day in the sun.

– Specific Treatments: If you have sunburn, apply an aloe vera gel or a specific sunburn cream to relieve pain and speed up healing.

  1. Internal Hydration

– Continue to drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin from within, and also remember to EAT water through aqueous fruits and vegetables (watermelon, cucumber, strawberries…). Fresh herbal teas and fruit-infused waters can also be beneficial.

  1. Nighttime Repair

– Take advantage of the night to repair your skin with products rich in antioxidants and restorative agents. Night serums and creams containing vitamin E, microalgae, and essential fatty acids can help renew and regenerate the skin while you sleep.

By following this routine, you can enjoy the benefits of summer while minimizing the harmful effects of the sun on your skin and hair. Good preparation before exposure and appropriate care afterwards will help you maintain radiant skin and healthy hair throughout the summer season.
